Born in Ottawa and raised with a Lebanese background, Rana has always been known to have great passion and big dreams. She had a incredibly strong personality and a great determination to succeed. With immense discipline, persistence and imagination, Rana's leadership skills continually grow. Since childhood, dance has always played a big part in Rana's life. She began dancing at Prima Dance Center at a young age, taking jazz, tap, ballet, modern and even baton. Although she loved it and was surrounded by many talented role models, her heart was drawn to hip hop. Her endless search for a medium ended when a friend informed her about Culture Shock. Rana wasted no time and auditioned in early 2004. Through Culture Shock, Rana has received proper training and expanded her knowledge of hip hop. She has since developed her talent as an instructor and quickly became Assistant Artistic Director under the direction of Kathryn Uhm in early 2005 where she also began working with Future Shock as Artistic Director with Phira Muth. Currently Culture Shock Ottawa's Co-Artistic Director, Rana continues to think of herself as a student as she is always striving to learn and grow as a dancer. Diversity is her key. She aspires to one day open her own dance center and start her own troupe thus continuing her journey through hip hop. |
